Privacy Policy — ViewExport for Mac

Last updated: October 19, 2026

This policy covers ViewExport for Mac, the desktop app distributed through the Mac App Store. For the ViewExport web service, see the ViewExport Privacy Policy.

Summary

ViewExport for Mac reads Slack and Microsoft Teams export archives on your own computer. Your archive is never sent to us. We operate no server for this app, we have no account system, and we receive no information about what you open, search for, or export.

The only time data leaves your Mac is if you choose to turn on AI-powered search and supply your own API key for a third-party provider. That feature is off unless you enable it.

Who we are

ViewExport for Mac is published by Wildfront LLC, 5441 S Macadam Ave Ste N, Portland, OR 97239-6106, United States. ViewExport is one of Wildfront’s products.

What the app stores, and where

When you open an export, the app reads it and builds a searchable database on your Mac, inside the app’s own storage area. Your messages, channel names, usernames, attachments, and any files you export to CSV, JSON or PDF stay on your computer, under your control. You can delete them at any time by removing the export from the app or deleting the app.

The app also writes diagnostic logs locally. These are only shared if you choose to send them to us using the “Send Logs to Support” menu item, which prepares an email you can review before sending.

What we collect

Nothing. We do not operate a server for this app. We do not collect analytics, usage statistics, telemetry, crash reports, or device identifiers. The app contains no advertising and no tracking of any kind.

We do not know who you are, that you installed the app, or what you do with it.

Optional AI-powered search

The app includes an optional semantic search feature that is disabled by default. To use it you must obtain an API key from a third-party AI provider and enter it in Settings. Supported providers:

  • Anthropic — api.anthropic.com
  • OpenAI — api.openai.com
  • Voyage AI — api.voyageai.com

If you enable this feature, the app sends message text from your export directly from your Mac to the provider whose key you supplied, in order to generate the search results you asked for. This happens under your own account with that provider, using your own API key.

That data does not pass through us and we never receive it. Its handling is governed by your agreement with the provider, including their data retention and training policies. Review those before enabling the feature on sensitive material.

Your API keys are stored locally on your Mac and are sent only to the provider they belong to.

If you do not enable AI search, the app makes no network connections for search.

Purchases

The app is free and shows the newest 5,000 messages of an export. A one-time in-app purchase removes that limit.

Purchases are handled entirely by Applethrough the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple tells the app whether a purchase exists so it can unlock; it does not tell us who you are. Apple’s handling of the transaction is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

Children

ViewExport is a professional tool and is not directed to children.

Your rights

Because we do not collect or hold any personal data about users of this app, there is usually nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete. Your data is on your own computer and under your control.

If you believe we hold personal data about you — for example because you emailed support — you may contact [email protected] to ask what we have, request a copy, or ask us to delete it. We will respond as required by applicable law, including the GDPR and UK GDPR where they apply to you.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
